volunteering news January 2018

Here is a photo of of Kirkton Woods volunteer Kenny with path markers leading down to the bottom of the woods, near the old Coffin Road. The markers are just old bits of harvesting waste stuck into the ground, the path will come later… In the background is the largest of the ruined houses at Kirkton. The path we have been marking out passes close to the ruin and heads to the old Coffin Road near the ford. We also removed quite a few obstacles along the way.

Next week’s volunteer meeting (Friday 12th, 10am – 1pm) will return to Cnoc na Staing viewpoint to remove the two remaining pieces of steelwork and, if time, continue with the gorse reduction and drainage improvement on the path across the top of the crofts.

The following meeting is on SATURDAY 20th 10am – 1pm, also on the Cnos na Staing footpath. Meet at the small campsite on Croft road. More details from Nic. nic.bullivant@gmail.com.
