School Pond dipping

On the 22nd March 2018 pupils from Lochcarron Primary School visited  the Pond at Kirkton Community Woodland.  The Pond was installed as part of the Heritage Trail Path Network in 2017.  Local Countryside Ranger Jenny Grant and Local Animateur Lynda Beveridge leaded the pupils on pond related activities.  Pupils helped to create wildlife habitats by placing “Toad & Frog Hotels” around the pond.  As well as creating a gravel shelf to aid amphibian’s transition from pond to land and planted up some reeds, flag Iris, water mint & bog bean.  Pupils are keen to return to their community pond to see what creatures have moved in!  Earlier in the day Jenny & Lynda visited the Lochcarron Nursery and brought the pond to them.
